Idris Babatunde Olayiwola, a former IT officer at Globus Bank, has vehemently denied the fraud allegations made against him by the bank.
In a statement shared on his X handle, Olayiwola described the accusations as “baseless” and “untrue.”
Olayiwola detailed his professional journey, stating he began working on the Globus Bank Core Banking Application Project in January 2019 while employed at Computer Warehouse Group (CWG).
After the project’s completion, he accepted an offer to oversee the bank’s Core Banking Application processes, joining the bank in January 2021.
“I decided to leave the bank fearing for my career. I accepted a position at KPMG in September 2021 as a Project Manager despite a pay cut. My primary reason for leaving was my fear for my life and career,” he explained.
Olayiwola disclosed that after leaving Globus Bank, he moved to the UK in May 2022 and continued to work with KPMG until September 2022. He refuted claims of his involvement in any fraudulent activities, pointing out that he had been in the UK since May 2022.
“The bank claimed that a fraud occurred and that I was involved. How can this be possible when I have been in the UK since May 2022?” he questioned.
He also addressed false claims regarding his employment of someone before his departure from the bank and the allegation of taking over a staff password to post transactions, describing these as fabrications.
“In December 2023, I noticed an unsolicited account being opened for me at Globus Bank. I informed the bank that I did not authorize it. I suspect malpractice, and I was advised to instigate a lawsuit against them for such a scary act,” Olayiwola added.
Olayiwola accused the bank of attempting to tarnish his professional reputation, suggesting that they might be trying to hide internal fraud and unethical practices. He emphasized his commitment to exposing the truth if necessary, with concrete evidence and testimonies from former top executives.
“These baseless accusations against me must be addressed with the truth. My professional journey has been one of dedication, integrity, and hard work. I refuse to be a scapegoat for the unethical practices of others,” he asserted.
Olayiwola concluded by affirming his readiness to defend his name and set the record straight against the false claims.
