In a heartfelt decision, the eagerly awaited novelty football showdown between the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) and the Kaduna State Ministry of Sports Development has been rescheduled.

In the wake of the Tudun Biri tragedy, the clash’s postponement was declared at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium in Kaduna, just as both teams geared up for the kickoff.

Professor Ben Gugong, Kaduna State Commissioner of Sports Development, articulated the solemn decision, a gesture of respect towards the lives lost and injuries incurred during the unfortunate bomb incident in Tudun Biri Community, Igabi Local Government Area.

Expressing condolences to Governor Senator Uba Sani and the affected families, Prof. Gugong emphasized the significance of honouring the victims.

SWAN President, Isaiah Benjamin, echoed this sentiment, asserting that the deferment was the most fitting response.

Chairman Shehu Abdullahi, in his remarks, praised the turnout and assured the announcement of a new match date, collaborated upon with the sports ministry.

The stadium bowed in a minute of silence, a poignant tribute to those who met an untimely end in the tragic incident.

This rescheduling not only underscores the resilience of sportsmanship but also pays homage to the irreplaceable lives lost.
