Ten residents of Kuyanbana village in Rumaya community, Kauru local government area of Kaduna State, have been abducted by gunmen, sparking fresh concern over rising insecurity in the area.

The Kauru Local Government Community Development Associations (CDAs) Forum, which disclosed the incident in a statement made available to journalists, condemned the attack and described it as “barbaric and unacceptable.”

The statement, signed by the Forum’s Public Relations Officer, Daniel Danau, on behalf of the chairman, Dr. Billy Ishaya Laah, said the attack occurred around 10:30pm on Thursday, October 23, 2025, shooting sporadically before whisking away the victims to an unknown destination.

According to the Forum, those abducted were identified as Anthony Gambo, Sule S. Maigari, Asabe Sule, Makuku Joshua, Bako Bagobiri, Regina Nehemiah, Kabiru Ishaku, Lemich Ishaku, Solomon Barnabas, and Kaninzo Maitala.

The Forum called on the Kaduna State Government and security agencies to take immediate action to rescue the victims and curb recurring kidnappings in the area.

“This recurring kidnapping in our local government is a cause for serious concern despite the presence of military formations in Dokan Karji (Kauru Chiefdom), Damakasuwa (Tsam), and Kwassam (Kumana Chiefdom), which are close to where the incident happened,” they lamented.

The Forum further urged the authorities to intensify efforts to apprehend the perpetrators and bring them to justice, noting that many residents now live in fear as bandits continued to terrorise rural communities.

“As we stand in solidarity with the families of the victims and pray for their safe return, we appeal to the government to find lasting solutions to this menace. Communities in Kauru must also remain vigilant and cooperate with security agencies to prevent further attacks,” the Forum added.
