A coalition of over 300 support groups loyal to Nigeria’s ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to appoint Professor Kailani Muhammad as the party’s next National Chairman.
In a unified statement signed by dozens of coordinators, national leaders and grassroots mobilisers, the groups described Muhammad as a “true party man” and the most deserving candidate to steer the APC into its next chapter.
The statement, signed by prominent platforms such as the Tinubu-Shettima Network (TSN), the Confederation of APC Support Groups (CASG), and the APC Support Groups Stakeholders (ASGS), declared the endorsement as the outcome of “thorough consultations” across Nigeria.
“These are the same groups that worked selflessly to secure victory for President Tinubu, APC governors, lawmakers and local government chairmen,” the statement read.
Professor Kailani Muhammad was praised for his decades-long loyalty to the party, his grassroots mobilisation, and his efforts in strengthening party unity since APC’s inception.
He currently serves as National Chairman of TSN, Director General of CASG, and is a former DG of the Amalgamated APC Support Groups (AASG).
“His accessibility, his commitment to our cause, and his ability to unify even the most fragmented structures make him the most suitable for this responsibility,” said Hajiya Maimuna Aliyu Abdullahi, National Coordinator of the Tinubu Foundation.
According to the coalition, Muhammad’s leadership would not only inspire new confidence within the party structure but would also bridge trust gaps between the national leadership and grassroots members.
The coalition further called for the leadership of the party to be zoned to the North-Central region, stating that the region has yet to produce a national chairman and that Prof. Muhammad fits the bill.
“This is a defining moment for the APC. Our call is not born out of sentiment but out of the conviction that loyalty, experience and performance must be rewarded,” said Hon. Timothy Aloja of the Tinubu-Shettima Mandate group.
They urged President Tinubu and the APC leadership to make “the right choice” and entrust the future of the party to a seasoned organiser who has walked the APC journey from its formative years.
For many observers, this push by the vast network of grassroots organisations signals a significant internal movement within the party as it prepares for its future political battles.
