The Zamfara State Enlightenment Forum (ZEF) has commended former Governor of Zamfara State, Dr. Bello Muhammad Matawalle, for his transformative leadership from 2019 to 2023, describing his tenure as a benchmark for progress and societal advancement.

In a statement issued on Monday, ZEF Coordinator Zamfara State, Ibrahim Hassan Maru, praised Matawalle’s visionary approach, noting that it redefined governance in the state and established a legacy of hope and resilience.

“Dr. Matawalle’s era marked a turning point in Zamfara’s development trajectory,” Maru said.

Highlighting the former governor’s achievements, Maru noted that Matawalle spearheaded an industrialization agenda that revitalized Zamfara’s economy.

“By fostering an environment conducive to investment and entrepreneurship, he created opportunities across various sectors, laying the groundwork for sustainable development,” Maru explained.

One of the hallmarks of Matawalle’s administration was his focus on youth empowerment.

According to Maru, the governor’s initiatives equipped the younger generation with skills and opportunities to thrive in a changing world.

“His emphasis on youth empowerment was particularly impactful,” he added.

Maru pointed to the establishment of the Directorate of Sports as a landmark achievement.

“This state-of-the-art facility was designed to develop athletic talent and promote healthy living. It not only enhanced the lives of Zamfara’s youth but also positioned the state as a hub for sports excellence in Nigeria,” he said.

Beyond infrastructure and economic reforms, Maru noted that Matawalle’s administration was deeply committed to community upliftment.

“His leadership focused on rural development, improving access to essential services, and bridging the gap between urban and rural areas,” Maru said.

The ZEF further described Matawalle’s tenure as a testament to the potential of visionary governance.

“His unwavering commitment to progress and empowerment has left Zamfara State stronger, more vibrant, and better prepared for the future,” Maru stated.

The group underscored the lasting impact of Matawalle’s policies, urging leaders to draw inspiration from his achievements.

“His legacy serves as a guiding light for both current and future leaders,” Maru emphasized.

ZEF expressed optimism that Zamfara State would continue to build on the foundations laid during Matawalle’s administration, ensuring continued growth and prosperity.

Dr. Bello Muhammad Matawalle remains celebrated as a leader who indelibly shaped Zamfara’s history, fostering development and creating opportunities for its people.
