The Arewa Concerned Citizens Forum has accused Governor Dauda Lawal Dare of prioritising political battles over the worsening security crisis in Zamfara State.

The group said the state was “bleeding” under the weight of kidnappings, killings and mass displacement, yet the government appeared more concerned with silencing critics and engaging in propaganda.

Addressing journalists in Gusau, the Forum’s secretary, Comrade Garba Dan Asabe, described the administration’s conduct as “insensitive and deeply troubling”.

He said, “It is shocking that at a time when our people are suffering, losing loved ones and living in fear, the government is busy chasing shadows.

“This administration has turned the pain of our citizens into political capital. That is unacceptable, irresponsible and unworthy of public office.”

Dan Asabe stated that Zamfara residents deserved a leadership that prioritised their welfare rather than political ego.

“Leadership is not about attacking opponents or manipulating the media,” he added.
“Leadership is about protecting your people, serving them with honesty and addressing challenges that threaten their survival. Lives are at stake.”

The Forum urged Governor Lawal Dare to refocus on restoring security, improving community engagement and ensuring transparent governance.

According to the group, safeguarding the people remains the moral duty of any administration, and anything short of that amounts to a betrayal of public trust.
