This isn’t just an award ceremony; it’s about unity,says Engr Marcus Gunduri, Chairman of the Gongola People’s Forum.
On June 29, 2024, leaders including General Theophilus Yakubu Danjuma (rtd), Governors Kefas Agbu, Caleb Mufwang, and Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri will converge at Mohmud Ribadu Square in Yola.
The event aims to honor distinguished sons and daughters of the former Gongola State and foster unity among ethnic nationalities.
Gunduri, in a world press conference, emphasized the event’s significance beyond political affiliations.
“We’re uniting ethnic groups from Adamawa, Taraba, Gombe, Plateau, Nassarawa, Southern Kaduna, and Bauchi,” he explained.
This gathering also seeks to address current economic challenges and explore collective solutions.
The event features David Jang as the distinguished Chairman, Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri as Chief Celebrant, and TY Danjuma as the special guest of honor.
Other notable guests include Governors Caleb Mufwang and Kefas Agbu, Nassarawa PDP Governorship candidate Chief David Ombugadu, and guest speaker Professor Jerry Gana. Royal dignitaries such as Manu Ishaku, Aku Uka of Wukari, and other traditional leaders will also grace the occasion.
“The Gongola People’s Forum is a social-cultural association for the indigenous people of Adamawa and beyond,”Gunduri noted, stressing its non-political nature.
Alongside prominent members like Mr. Kube Akila Dwallam, Barr Leonard Zadok, Prince Medan Fwa, and Kalep Filli, Gunduri underscored the forum’s commitment to unity and historical cooperation among tribes.
Reflecting on the region’s rich history, Gunduri added, “Since the seventh century, Gongola people have coexisted and collaborated.
It’s time to revisit these bonds to help develop our nation.” Attendees from various states will share ideas to advance national progress.
