Some directors in  Federal Government-owned establishments and parastatals have commended the Chief of Staff (CoS) to President Bola Tinubu, Mr Femi Gbajabiamila, over his recent visits to their offices.

Some of the directors, who did not want their names mentioned,  said contrary to allegations of usurping the power of the legislature, Gbajabiamila’s  visits were in order.

It would be recalled that the Chief of Staffvisited key government establishments recently,  including the National Agricultural Land Development Authority (NALDA)  and  the Bureau of Public Procurement (BPP).

Others included: the Bureau of Public Enterprises (BPE) the Nigeria Atomic Energy Commission (NAEC) and the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASEI), among others

However,  Gbajabiamila’s tour of the  Federal Government agencies has been criticised in some quarters, with some people accusing him of hijacking the oversight duty of the National Assembly.

Meanwhile, a Director at NEMA who spoke with a correspondent of the News Agency of Nigeria(NAN), lauded  Gbajabiamila for sparing time to visit the agency.

Speaking on the condition of anonymity, he said: “I think the CoS should be applauded for taking out time to be here. We are all working for the the progress of Nigeria.

“If his coming to see us will make us do better, we should commend him. I really don’t understand the energy being wasted to discuss an unimportant issue.

” The CoS’s visit does not stop the national assembly from doing their oversight.”

Similarly, a top official of NAHCON backed Gbajabiamila for the visit, adding that it was an opportunity for the commission to interact with the former speaker.(NAN)(
