A significant gas explosion at a filling station in Jibia, Katsina State, has resulted in numerous injuries and extensive damage to six vehicles.

According to ASP Abubakar Sadiq-Aliyu, spokesman for the state police command, the explosion occurred when a truck transporting gas cylinders caught fire.

Police operatives, alerted by the explosion, arrived promptly on the scene alongside military personnel. The cause of the blast remains under investigation.

“Upon arrival, our team encountered a truck loaded with gas cylinders fully engulfed in flames at Tamal filling station on the Kagadama-Magamar Jibia road,” ASP Sadiq-Aliyu stated.

The joint response team implemented measures to safeguard lives and minimize property damage, successfully extinguishing the blaze. Fortunately, while six vehicles were badly affected, there were no fatalities reported.

The Commissioner of Police for Katsina State, Mr. Aliyu Abubakar-Musa, has ordered a comprehensive investigation into the incident.

Further updates will be provided as the inquiry unfolds.
