The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), will from April 4, 2023, carry out a four-day special enforcement tagged “Operation Show Your Driver Licence” in Rivers State.

The FRSC Sector Commander in the state, Salisu Gallanduci, in a statement made available to LEADERSHIP in Port Harcourt yesterday, said the main aim of enforcement was to stem the tide of reckless driving in the state.

Gallanduci said: “The move became necessary upon discovering recently the rate at which motorists drive without drivers licence on the highways in Rivers State, which is against requirement of the provisions of laws of the state and the federation.

“The rate at which motorists speed on the highways within Port Harcourt metropolis is worrisome, thus the need to checkmate it by ensuring motorists who ply the roads are first of all licenced to drive.”

The Sector Commander directed operatives of the corps in Port Harcourt, Eleme, Ahoada, Isiokpo and Bonny Island, to vigorously embark on the special enforcement to clamp down on those who go against the laws, for not driving with drivers licence and other violations of traffic rules and regulations so as to instill discipline in drivers on the highways.

He stated that his men were tutored to operate strictly under the principles of being fair, firm and friendliness.

Gallanduci advised the general public to be law abiding, to give the FRSC personnel the necessary cooperation to achieve target of the enforcement.
