The cheque was presented Tuesday in Kafanchan to the Agwam Fantswam II, Dr. Josiah Kantiok, who handed it over to the beneficiaries. Speaking at the event, the Country Director of Global Peace Foundation Nigeria, Rev. John Joseph Hayab, said the initiative seeks to enhance the income levels of vulnerable women and youth in the community.

“The five cooperative societies, comprising 60 women and 40 youths, have undergone training on peace-building mechanisms under our ‘One Family Under God’ model, as well as financial literacy. Each group consists of 20 individuals,” Hayab explained.

He reiterated the foundation’s dedication to fostering unity among diverse ethnic and religious groups, promoting shared humanity, and achieving meaningful socio-economic change in the area.

In his remarks, Dr. Kantiok expressed gratitude for the intervention, urging beneficiaries to utilize the funds judiciously. “This support uplifts our community, and I call on the recipients to use it to achieve the intended objectives,” he said.

Elder Dary Akau, Chairman of the Southern Kaduna Leadership Council, described the initiative as timely, given the economic hardships faced by many. He encouraged community members to form cooperatives to access similar opportunities from NGOs and government agencies.

Mrs. Lois Joseph Hayab of Global Peace Women Nigeria advised beneficiaries, particularly women, to avoid running their businesses on credit to prevent financial setbacks. She also emphasized the importance of advocating for peace and rejecting violence.

Some beneficiaries expressed appreciation for the support, pledging to apply their new skills to improve their financial status and contribute to community development.
