The former General Manager of the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), Engr. Joseph Chiroma has facilitated the replacement of vandalized aluminum conductors and broken poles that disrupted power supply in the Nigerian Army, Navy formations, and several surrounding communities in Kachia Local Government Area of Kaduna State after years of blackouts.

The Chief of Staff to the former TCN boss, Mr. Saleh Kure (Majindadin Gwong), disclosed this on Monday during an inspection of the affected areas.

He explained that “Vital parts of the transformers and other items were vandalized, plunging the area into an extended blackout.”

“This dire situation caught the attention of Engr. Ciroma, a dedicated community development enthusiast swung into action to spearhead the repairs of some damaged transformers and oversaw the installation of necessary components to restore power.” He stated.

Saleh emphasized that the initiative was driven purely by a commitment to improving the lives of the people, rather than political ambition.

In a remark, the District Head of Kachia, Mal. Muhammadu Ismail, and the Chairman of the Electricity Committee in Kachia LGA, Mal. Muhammadu Shitu, while recounting their ordeal, lamented that the blackout has negatively impacted local economic and social activities, posing a serious hardship to residents.

They commended Engr. Chiroma for his timely intervention, praying to God for long life and prosperity.

” The intervention was timely, given the current economic challenges, while calling on the youth in Kachia to take advantage of the restored electricity to revitalize socio-economic activities in the area.
