According to one of the incident’s victims, the fire began inside a communication mast and spread to nearby houses.

He added that the inferno destroyed property worth millions of naira, including cash.

Another victim, Imran Abdulrahman, said, “I live close to where the inferno occurred. I have my office attached to one of the burnt buildings. I peeped through the window and saw how the fire spread to other houses. When I came down, I saw how the fire destroyed our property. A woman lost 3 million naira cash. It is miserable.”

Similarly, Abdulrahman Onimisi, another victim, explained that he lost properties worth millions of naira to the fire. He said, “I engaged in a carpentry job. I could not remove a needle from my workshop. I have been labouring for years, but I lost everything in one day. I am short of words.

Sadiya Sani, who also lost her belongings in the incident, said, “We were sleeping when suddenly, we had a small blast from outside. We saw fire in this communication Mast when we came out of the house. My neighbours and I tried to put off the fire but couldn’t. Even the firefighters who arrived during the incident tried their best but couldn’t succeed. The fire burnt our house, and we lost many properties,” she said.
