This came up after a crucial meeting of all members in Abuja, the forum’s media consultant Ikenna Ndubuisi emphasised that the odd and bad attitude of stealing and vandalisation of critical infrastructures like gully outlet covers and others has made the fct minister to detest the activities of scavengers. Against this impression,Ndubuisi stated that it is not all scavengers that are criminals and appealed to fct Minister Nyesom Wike to please halt the mass burning and pulling down of all places occupied by scavengers. They are ready to follow codes and rules of operation as bonafide citizens of Nigeria and vehemently agree to periodically sensitize and enlighten registered members. Ndubuisi assured the fct minister of support and loyalty of the members. The forum has taken steps to provide identity cards to registered members, accreditate them, conduct censor of persons and place, interface with the police, dss and the Abuja environmental board as well as relevant authorities. It is completely wrong to tag all scavengers criminals in view of why they need a second chance. Through registration, contacts, vital information and profiles of members could be known and any violation will be reported for necessary action.
