Evans Travel & Tours Limited, a leading West African tour operator, has expanded its operations to the Benin Republic as part of efforts to strengthen regional tourism, improve cross-border travel experiences, and promote West Africa as a unified cultural destination.

The company said the expansion follows its official registration in Benin Republic and aligns with its long-term vision of making travel across West Africa more structured, accessible and professionally guided for tourists, diaspora visitors and cultural explorers.

Founded by travel entrepreneur Evans Aguiyi, Evans Travel & Tours has built a reputation for organizing multi-country tours across West Africa, including overland journeys through Nigeria, Benin Republic, Togo, Ghana and Côte d’Ivoire, offering travellers immersive cultural, historical and heritage experiences.

Speaking on the development, Aguiyi described Benin Republic as a strategic destination within the West African tourism landscape due to its rich cultural heritage, historical significance in the transatlantic slave trade and vibrant traditional and spiritual practices.

According to him, the expansion will improve travel logistics, facilitate cultural exchange and enhance access to some of the region’s most important tourism destinations, including Ouidah, Cotonou and Porto-Novo.

He noted that West Africa possesses enormous tourism potential but requires better coordination, storytelling and professionally guided travel systems to unlock its full value for international visitors.

Aguiyi said the company specializes in a broad range of structured travel experiences across the sub-region, including multi-country tours spanning Nigeria, Benin Republic, Togo, Ghana and Côte d’Ivoire, as well as cross-border road trip experiences across member states of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).

He added that the company also offers single-country cultural and heritage tours, day trips, city excursions, private guided tours, educational travel packages and customized group experiences tailored to families, corporate organizations and members of the African diaspora.

According to him, the company’s tourism packages are designed to provide travellers with authentic cultural immersion through direct engagement with local communities, traditional festivals, heritage sites, food experiences and historical storytelling.

Aguiyi said: “The expansion comes at a time when global interest in African heritage tourism, diaspora reconnection travel and cultural exploration across West Africa is growing rapidly.

“Countries such as Ghana, Benin Republic, Nigeria and Côte d’Ivoire continue to attract increasing numbers of international visitors interested in meaningful cultural and historical experiences.”

He explained that travellers are increasingly seeking authentic cultural experiences, ancestry and heritage exploration opportunities, historical slave route tours, overland adventures and multi-country African travel experiences.

Aguiyi stated that Evans Travel & Tours, with over a decade of tourism industry experience, remains committed to connecting travellers with authentic African experiences through professionally guided tours that combine history, culture, tradition and meaningful local interaction.

He said the company’s mission is to contribute to the growth of regional tourism by showcasing the diverse cultural assets of West Africa while making cross-border travel more seamless and accessible.
