The Edo State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), on Wednesday, certified over 351 volunteer and support groups to help the party galvanize voters ahead of the 2023 general elections.

The Edo PDP Chairman, Dr. Anthony Aziegbemi, issued certificates of registration to the support groups at the PDP Campaign Office in Benin City, urging them to take the PDP message of hope to all nooks and crannies, including hard-to-reach-communities in the state.

He said, “You are now officially a support group for the PDP in Edo State and the party acknowledges your commitment to the growth and development of the party.

“A support group is not in the party structure but works independently and has the capacity to reach out to those places that the party structure might not have been able to reach.

“Some might not understand the depth of what we are doing here. We have an understanding of what you are giving us and what you can give to the party and I am sure you will give us at least 500 votes per support group so that we will be looking at over 100,000 votes.”

Aziegbemi added, “Going forward, what we want to hear from you are the hindrances you are encountering in achieving the target of 500 voters per support group so that before February 25, 2023, we would have interacted well enough to know what each support group is giving us and monitor that with our system.”
