A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Eze Chukwuemeka Eze, has cautioned immediate-past Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, to stop linking former Governor Peter Odili, to his failed administration.
He said it was “apparently deluding” for Wike to claim that his success as governor was hinged on the tutorials he got from Odili, saying that the latter’s tutorials wouldn’t have led the immediate-past governor into alleged gross failure.
Eze, in a statement made available to LEADERSHIP in Port Harcourt yesterday, described Odili as the father of Rivers State politics, saying that Wike’s claims smacks of witting dishonour to the elder statesman.
The APC chieftain said: “To link a leader like Dr. Odili with an administration that has been validated as worst in the annals of governance in Rivers State is unacceptable especially to people of conscience and keen observers of the political playground of the state.
“If Wike had achieved 50% of the success Odili recorded or 30% of Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi’s record, the state wouldn’t be at a staggering stage.
“In all fairness and sense of responsibility, Dr. Peter Odili is a democrat and father in the politics of Rivers State and given his impressive pedigree, the elder statesman couldn’t have advised Wike to run an administration that is averse to development and repugnant to justice and good conscience.
“It is derogatory to link Dr. Odili to a grossly wasteful, docile and useless administration like that of Wike that ran a state without fiscal policy and transacted public finance in a manner shrouded in utmost secrecy and grossly antithetical to every known norm of responsible finance management.
“It is sheer idiocy for the immediate past Governor to attempt to drag Odili in the mud by trying to bring him to share in his legacy of monumental failure by claiming success where there is non and attributing same to the very respected Peter Odili.
“No amount of concealment, vain blabbing and false claims by Wike will make Rivers people buy-in the phony narrative that Dr. Peter Odili taught him to run an administration squarely tainted with reckless financial prodigality; sharing Rivers money to other States while his own people wallowed in poverty and want.”
