The Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kaduna State, Chief Hon. Edward Percy Masha, has decried what he described as the prevailing hardship and insecurity under the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led administration, as Nigeria marks Democracy Day.
In a statement issued on Wednesday to commemorate June 12, Masha congratulated the people of Kaduna State and Nigerians at large for their resilience in upholding democratic values despite the difficult socio-economic realities.
According to him, June 12 is not only symbolic of Nigeria’s democratic struggle, but also a solemn reminder of the obligation leaders have to deliver good governance, justice, and security to the people.
He expressed concern over what he called the “worsening state of the nation” under the APC, citing rising insecurity, deepening poverty, and high youth unemployment as evidence of failed leadership.
“Many communities in Kaduna State live in fear and deprivation. This is a betrayal of the democratic promise,” he said.
In a passionate appeal, Masha prayed for divine intervention to rescue the nation from what he termed the “oppressive APC regime,” and called for a national rebirth anchored on peace, prosperity, and dignity.
“We pray that God, in His infinite mercy, will intervene in the affairs of our nation, deliver us from this season of affliction, and lead us into a new dawn where the people’s voice is honoured and their welfare prioritised,” he said.
The PDP chieftain also reaffirmed his belief in the party’s capacity to restore Nigeria on the path of justice and equity. He prayed for the continued growth of the PDP from the ward to the national level.
“As Nigeria marks another milestone in its democratic journey, let us remain vigilant, united, and hopeful,” he said. “The power of the people is stronger than any government. Together, through unity and faith, we shall reclaim our nation.”
