Democracy Day in Nigeria is more than just a national holiday it’s a powerful reminder of the country’s journey towards liberty, equality, and inclusive governance. This annual celebration, held on June 12, commemorates the resilient spirit of Nigerians and the enduring strength of democratic rule.

On this momentous day, prominent figures across the nation extended heartfelt congratulations to Nigerians, commending them for their unwavering commitment to democracy. Among them, is the respected political figure Brigadier General. Simon Katunku Gora (rtd) offered his warmest wishes, hailing the occasion as a victory for all citizens.

In his Democracy Day message, Gen. Gora urged all citizens to unite as one family and respect the rule of law and remain law-abiding. He highlighted the importance of integrity, discipline, and respect for the nation’s legal framework, stating that these values are fundamental pillars of a strong and thriving democracy.

“Every citizen has a role to play in safeguarding Nigeria’s democracy. Being law-abiding is not only a duty but a demonstration of our collective commitment to national growth and unity,” he said.

Gen. Gora also noted that Nigeria’s journey has not been without challenges, but the nation’s perseverance continues to shine through. He further encouraged all Nigerians to embrace their role as peace ambassadors, working to maintain harmony and national unity regardless of ethnic, religious, or political differences.

“Our strength lies in our unity,” he said. “Let us reject all forces of division and stand together to build a peaceful, inclusive, and prosperous Nigeria.”

Speaking to Journalist, Gen. Gora called on Nigerians to give their full support to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s “Renewed Hope Agenda”, a vision designed to usher in a more prosperous and secure future for all citizens. According to Gen. Gora, president Tinubu agenda holds the promise of socio-economic development, stronger institutions, and greater opportunities for every Nigerian.

He emphasized that with collective effort and national unity, the president’s goals for development, security, and economic reform can be realised. “We must remain hopeful and work hand in hand with the government to ensure Nigeria reaches its full potential,” he said.

Further addressing on issues of good governance, Gen. Gora urged the residents of Kaduna State to fully support the dynamic and progressive leadership of Governor Uba Sani. He described the governor as a unifying force whose administration is focused on inclusive development, transparency, and people-centred governance.

According to Gen. Gora, Governor Sani has shown exceptional dedication to improving the lives of the people through various initiatives that promote education, security, and infrastructure. He praised the governor’s commitment to serving all communities across the state without bias or favouritism.

He also lauded Governor Sani’s style of inclusive representation, which he described as key to sustainable growth in Kaduna State. He pointed out that when all groups in society feel heard and represented, it fosters greater trust in government and encourages active participation from the grassroots level.

“Governor Uba Sani is setting a standard for what leadership in Nigeria should look like. His efforts are building a more united Kaduna, where everyone has a voice and opportunities are available to all,” Gen. Gora affirmed.
