Defection: Sherrif Oborevwori In A Transfer Market , Delta PDP Group

Published

on

Concerned leaders of PDP in Delta state have again challenged the Delta state governor , Sherrif Oborevwori of his glaring planned defection from People’s Democratic Party PDP to All Progressives Congress APC, from his romance with the Presidency.

In a press release on Thursday signed by the concerned PDP Leaders in the state by David Ekiyor, Ochuko Oghenekome, and Ezekiel Chukwudi, tagged “2027: OUR LEADER, GOVERNOR SHERIFF OBOREVWORI IS ASSUREDLY IN TRANSFER MARKET.” the group stated that there is already a confirmation that the Delta state governor is assuredly in a transfer market.

It is obvious on his discussion with APC leaders as team managers to perfect his seemingly movement from PDP to APC, with a view to guaranteeing soft landing.

We are concerned to know the incentives and factors propelling the Delta state governor and his planned movement to APC amid unpopular leadership at the National level .

They described as laughable, the Governors feeble attempt to respond to the allegations of defection levelled against him, stating the obvious that Sheriff Oboroeweri has perfected his designed arrangements.

According to the PDP Leaders, the Governor’s spokesman, Ahon and the state party chairman, Solomon Areyenka are already cut up in the web in the drama, hence the feeble, empty and ignorant defence stance to favour the Governor .

They also accused the governor of playing politics with the entire and collective destiny of Deltans , saying plans are concluded by Governor Sheriff Oborevwori to move to APC and will soon be signed in by the club manager, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR.

While pitying the crass ignorance and oblivious mind been displayed by the Governors spokesman and state party chairman, Areyenka , the group stated that they are uninformed, as the train of defection has left them behind.

They further stated , it is incontrovertible that Ahon and Areyenka had fell prey of hired hands that are already discussing his exit from PDP.

In another description, they also described them as glorified errand boys who cannot confront the governor to speak the truth to his face, as Areyenka least expect of becoming the Delta PDP State Chairman

The release further states…

CONCERNED LEADERS OF PEOPLES DEMOCRATIC PARTY (PDP), DELTA STATE
80, UZEVA ROAD, OLEH, ISOKO SOUTH LGA, DELTA STATE.

2027: OUR LEADER, GOVERNOR SHERIFF OBOREVWORI IS ASSUREDLY IN TRANSFER MARKET.

“The seasonal transfer market is upon us again, and it’s obvious that our Governor and Leader of our party in our dear state, Delta State, Sheriff Oborevwori, has positioned himself strategically to abdicate his old club and opt for a brand new one. ”

“He has been discussing with team managers of his new preferred club, and it is only a matter of time before he is signed off. ”

“The big question agitating the mind of team members and the public, is: what are the motivating incentives propelling Sheriff’s innate desperation to jettison the old vehicle that brought him to power – the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)?”

“The recent attempts by Governor Sheriff Oborevwori to respond to our allegations of his planned defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC) have been nothing short of being laughable.”

“The feeble, empty, and pointless defence by the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Festus Ahon, and Chairman of our Party, Chief Solomon Arenyeka, only serves to underscore their ignorance and obliviousness to the reality on ground.”

“We could not be persuaded by the response of Festus Ahon and Solomon Arenyeka that our Oga was not playing politics with our collective destiny.”

“We are convinced that Governor Oborevwori is on his way to the APC, and he would soon be signed-in by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR. The signs and facts are there for the intelligent to discern.”

“We pitied the crass ignorance displayed by Festus Ahon and Solomon Arenyeka.”

” They are oblivious and uninformed. The train of defection is leaving them behind.”

“Our findings have shown that the defection is real and on course. The governor didn’t consider these hired hands and handpicked leaders of our party, including the Arenyeka-led state executive as important to be involved at this stage of discussion with APC.”

“Of what value is Arenyeka and jobless media attack dogs in a matter involving the political future of Oborevwori?”

“These are errand boys who would be commandeered and rail-roaded into the project when the matter was concluded?”

“Do they have a say? Did Arenyeka knew that he would ever become a state chairman of PDP? Can he face the governor to discuss any issue? ”

“Arenyeka is just a glorified errand boy who would be issued a directive to move at the right time.”

“These guys have no value to add and their inputs are not required in the ongoing political horse-trading.”

“We therefore warn all party members to “shine their eyes” and be active and conscious ahead of 2027. ”

“They should take their future in their hands and not be cajoled nor deceived by the ill-conceived assurances of Solomon Arenyeka and his always “yes sir” hirelings.”

“Governor Oborevwori’s career in politics has been a remarkable one, spanning over two decades – from his little beginning as Personal Assistant to His Excellencies, Chief James Onanefe Ibori and Dr. Emmanuel Ewetan Uduaghan, to his entrance as a member of the Delta State House of Assembly.”

“His eventual meteoric rise, as the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, and has had a stint as State Governor.”

“However, his sudden readiness to dump the vehicle he started the journey in for a new one is baffling.”

“The rumours of the governor’s defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC) had been making the rounds for a while. Though his errand boys have dismissed it as speculation, we believe there is more to it than meets the eyes. Governor Oborevwori’s recent actions and body language suggest that he is indeed considering a move to the APC.”

“One of the key indicators of his planned defection is his recent trip to Ghana, where he allegedly ambushed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to perfect his defection plans. ”

“We ask, was he on the official delegation list of the Federal Government led by President Tinubu?”

“In what capacity was the governor at the presidential inauguration in Ghana?”

” These are questions that demand answers, and Governor Oborevwori owes it to the PDP and the people of Delta State to provide clarity to his actions.”

“Furthermore, we question the diplomatic tie between Ghana and Delta State. Does a nation engage in bilateral relations with the sub-units of another sovereign nation? It is unheard of. What is the diplomatic tie between Ghana and Delta State to prompt Gov. Sheriff Oborevwori to run to Ghana to attend President Mahama’s inauguration, and in the process breached all diplomatic protocols.”

“Who funded the trip to Ghana? Was it the Delta State taxpayers money used?”

*What gains is the trip to the state?”

“These are questions that demand clarification and Governor Oborevwori must provide the required accountability.”

“The lack of accountability in the governance of the State is terribly appalling.”

“We demand answers over this matter. He became governor through our collective support and thrust – so he owes it to us to give explanation. ”

“Was the Governor on vacation, or was the trip authorized and approved by the Delta State House of Assembly?”

“And while leaving did he officially transmit authority to the Deputy Governor to act on his behalf.”

” These are pertinent inquiries he must provide explanations.”

“The Delta State House of Assembly (DTHA) has been inept, docile, dead and now a rubber stamp to Oborevwori’s shenanigans. ”

“The State House of Assembly members are over eager to receive crumbs from the Governor’s table. So, they compromise regulations at the drop of a hat.”

“Otherwise, in normal climes, the Assembly would have probed this ill-fated trip to Ghana and initiated appropriate sanctions.”

“We also find it curious that Governor Oborevwori has suddenly decided to pay all the entitlements of the seven APC lawmakers in the State House of Assembly.”

“He has withheld every of their emolument and allowances since the inauguration of the House in June 2023. What occasioned the sudden change of stance?”

“This move is a clear attempt to pacify the APC and create a conducive atmosphere for the anticipated move.”

*If not so, we then ask for the motivation behind the gesture?”

“Is Governor Oborevwori trying to buy his way into the APC?”

“We believe so.”

“His actions are a clear indication that he is willing to do whatever it takes to secure acceptance for the envisaged defection.”

“The fate of the PDP in the State therefore hangs in the balance.”

“We, the CONCERNED LEADERS OF PEOPLES DEMOCRATIC PARTY (PDP), DELTA STATE, will not stand idly-by, while the party’s fortunes are frittered away and undermined through Oborevwori’s unregulated desperation.”

“We demand transparency and accountability from our leaders, and we will continue to speak out against any actions that threaten the stability and unity of our party.”

“Governor Oborevwori’s defection would be a betrayal of the trust reposed in him by the people of Delta State. ”

“He was elected on the platform of the PDP, and it is unacceptable for him to abandon the party that brought him to power.”

* Governor Oborevwori has failed to come clean about his intentions and give reassurance about his commitment to the PDP. ”

“And not the lacklustre attempt to mask the truth by Festus Ahon and Solomon Arenyeka.”

” The people of Delta State won’t be fooled by empty denials or half-baked explanations.”

“The writing is on the wall, and Governor Oborevwori’s defection to the APC is all but certain.”

“We can only hope that he will reconsider his decision and remain loyal to the PDP.”

“However, if he decides to abandon the PDP, we will not be caught off guard.”

” We will take necessary actions to protect the interests of our party and ensure the people of Delta State are not shortchanged.”

LP Threatens Obi, Otti With Suspension Over Anti-Party Activities

Suspension

The Julius Abure-led faction of the Labour Party (LP) has cautioned Peter Obi, the party’s 2023 presidential candidate, and Alex Otti, governor of Abia state, over alleged anti-party activities.

In a statement released after a national executive council (NEC) meeting held in Abuja on Monday, the faction cautioned Obi against any actions that could undermine the unity and integrity of the party.

“NEC in session in exercise of its duties, hereby caution the former presidential candidate of our great party not to participate in any action capable of undermining the peace, unity, and integrity of the party as the NEC will not hesitate to issue stiffer penalties if found culpable,” the statement reads.

The party also took aim at Otti, accusing him of engaging in conduct contrary to the interests of the LP, including holding “unauthorised” stakeholder meetings and conducting LG elections using another political party.

According to NEC, Otti has been attempting to factionalise the party by convening what it described as an “illegal NEC” meeting scheduled for Wednesday.

The faction further alleged that the governor is plotting to destabilise the LP before defecting to another party ahead of the 2027 governorship election.

“NEC in session notes the various anti-party activities of Gov. Alex Otti, including calling of unauthorized stakeholders meeting and usurping the powers of NEC,” the statement reads.

“He also conducted LGA elections using another political party. The governor has also intensified his effort to factionalize the party leadership by calling an illegal NEC schedule to hold on Wednesday.

“The leadership of the Labour Party is also aware of the governor’s plot to cripple our party before moving to another political party where he hopes to contest the 2027 governorship election.

“His anti-party activities are unbecoming of a highly respected personality and can no longer be acceptable. NEC stated that it will not hesitate to discipline him in line with Article 19 of the Party’s Constitution.

“NEC in session noted that it would not hesitate to discipline any other erring member who violates the party constitution regardless of how big or powerful such individuals may be.”

On Monday, Obi and Otti announced a stakeholders’ summit set for Wednesday, April 9.

Abia: I will retire when I finish my 8 years tenure – Otti

Published

on

Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, has firmly ruled out any plans to contest for a Senate seat after his tenure ends.

He made the declaration on Saturday during a reception held in his honour by the Anambra Development Unions Association, Aba branch.

Otti dismissed speculations of a senatorial ambition, describing the rumours as baseless and misleading.

“When I finish my eight years here, I will retire. I am not going to Abuja,” Otti said, urging critics to stop spreading falsehoods.

He stressed the need to give room for younger leaders, citing the evolving political landscape and rising youth participation.

“We are no longer that young. Society is changing, and the young ones are rising. It’s time we give them the opportunity,” he added.

The governor also announced plans to revisit the 2011 disengagement of 154 state workers, mostly teachers, from the civil service.

He said the State Head of Service would be directed to urgently review the matter for possible redress.

Otti hinted that those under 65 might be reengaged on contract, especially given the teacher shortage across the state.

He criticised the workers’ dismissal on the basis of state of origin, calling it unjust and illegal.

“For those outside the age bracket, we’ll find fair compensation mechanisms,” the governor assured.

He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to justice, inclusivity, and correcting the wrongs of previous governments.

In separate remarks, lawmaker Stephen Ucheonye and Chief Obiora Nwakpadolo praised Otti’s leadership and developmental strides.

They said the governor’s performance inspired the decision to hold the reception in his honour. (NAN)

Ukachukwu Emerges Victorious Over Ozigbo to Secure APC Nomination for Anambra Governorship

Published

on

Nicholas Ukachukwu, a former House of Representatives member, has successfully obtained the All Progressives Congress (APC) gubernatorial ticket for the upcoming Anambra governorship election.

Ukachukwu won decisively during the party’s primary election held on Saturday, outpacing his nearest competitor, Valentine Ozigbo, along with other candidates by a significant margin.

He garnered 1,455 votes, while Ozigbo received 67 votes. Other aspirants, Edozie Madu and Johnbosco Onunkwo, secured 8 and 26 votes, respectively.

The Anambra governorship election is scheduled for November 8, 2025.

In a statement following his victory, Ukachukwu vowed to lead the state to the APC.

“We will ensure that Anambra is delivered to the APC. I want to emphasize that no one has ever won the governorship of Anambra without my backing; it has never occurred,” he remarked.

“I have played the role of a godfather, but now I aspire to be the father of the father — it’s time to move beyond the traditional godfather model.”

Notably, just hours before the primary election, three aspirants withdrew from the race, including former federal lawmaker Chukwuma Umeoji, Obiora Okonkwo, and Paul Chukwuma, who has since resigned from the party.
