Sophia Momodu has alleged in court documents that Davido’s sisters attempted to kidnap their daughter Imade when she was just three months old.

The ongoing legal battle between Davido and his ex-lover Sophia over the custody of their nine-year-old daughter, Imade, has taken a dramatic turn.

In a motion filed at the Lagos High Court on April 17, 2024, Davido sought “unfettered and unrestricted access” to his daughter, citing his role in her education, housing, transportation, living expenses, healthcare, and periodic travel.

He expressed concern over Sophia’s “utopian” demands and claimed she had denied him access to Imade for up to “two years.”

Responding to Davido’s lawsuit, Sophia, through her legal representatives, argued that she never denied him access.

In documents dated June 26, she claimed Davido had “repeatedly threatened” to make her life “miserable” if she did not comply with his sexual demands.

Sophia further alleged that Davido, in concert with his sisters, attempted to “kidnap” Imade when she was three months old.

According to her, Davido’s sisters tried to take Imade “permanently” under the guise of a holiday. The intervention of Nigerian Immigration services reportedly prevented the kidnapping at the airport.

Sophia argued that Davido’s actions prove he is “not fit to be a father,” stating, “The applicant has demonstrated that he is not a fit father.

He, in concert with his father and sisters, has tried on many occasions to kidnap our daughter and take her outside Nigeria and/or out of my reach without my consent.”

She continued, “At one time, when our daughter was just three months old, she was kidnapped by his sister under the pretense of a holiday. Due to the intervention of the Nigerian Immigration services, she was intercepted at the airport and apprehended for falsely representing herself as our daughter’s mother before they could leave the country, thus ensuring the safe return of our daughter to my custody.”
