The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has seized 509 pieces of raw donkey skin, 460kg of dried donkey meat, and Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) valued at N98.3 million in Adamawa and Taraba states.
Area Comptroller Muhammad Tako revealed the seizures during a press briefing on Wednesday in Yola, stating that they were made over six weeks as part of efforts to curb smuggling and protect the national economy.
Other confiscated items included 43 jumbo sacks of second-hand clothing, along with five cartons and 12 packages of Viagra 200mg tablets.
“These seizures were carried out pursuant to Sections 150, 245 and 246 of the Nigeria Customs Service Act, 2023,” Mr Tako said, adding that the goods also fall under Schedule 6 (Export Prohibition List) of the Common External Tariff (CET).
The comptroller urged smugglers to embrace legitimate business, reaffirming the NCS’s commitment to facilitating trade while cracking down on smuggling cartels within the law.
He further commended Comptroller-General Bashir Adeniyi and the management team for their visionary leadership.
