According to Elanza News In August 2025, despite facing reported network issues, the Apapa Command of the Nigeria Customs Service successfully collected N215 billion through the Unified Customs Management System (UCMS), commonly referred to as B’Odogwu.
Babatunde Olomu, the Customs Area Controller for the Command, attributed this achievement to the growing confidence in and ongoing enhancements of the B’Odogwu system. He praised stakeholders and customs officers for their unwavering support.
Olomu noted that the impressive collection figures for August 2025 reflect the dedication of officers whose patriotism has fostered the system’s development despite various challenges.
He expressed gratitude to stakeholders for their trust in the system’s ability to fulfill the needs of the trading community, particularly those engaged in import and export activities through Nigeria’s leading port in Apapa.
Drawing inspiration from several confidence-building engagements attended by the CGC Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, Olomu reassured all importers, exporters, licensed customs agents, and freight forwarders that B’Odogwu is poised for significant advancements.
He acknowledged their patience and support as crucial contributions to the national economy and commendable efforts in backing a locally developed ICT platform that aims to transform trade in Nigeria through customs operations.
Comptroller Olomu also revealed that the CGC has instructed the ICT/Modernisation Department at NCS Headquarters to enhance B’Odogwu service delivery by addressing all technical issues, responding to user feedback, and providing essential support for improved efficiency.
He remains optimistic that the UCMS will continue to exceed user expectations and build greater trust in the future.
“The N215 billion collected through the B’Odogwu platform signifies progress in our mission to create a reliable platform for trade by Nigerians and for all stakeholders involved in import, export, and excise activities in Nigeria,” stated the Controller.
“This is a shared success for all of us, and we will persist in our pursuit of greater achievements in the days, weeks, and months ahead. We are overcoming all obstacles, and the sky is our limit,” he concluded.
