Ambassador Ademario Emmanuel, Director General of the Coalition of Nigeria Youth on Security and Safety Affairs (CONYSSA), has issued a strong condemnation of the recent arrest of Dr. Dickson Akoh, the National Commandant of the Peace Corps, along with several personnel, emphasizing that the matter is currently before the courts.

Emmanuel commended Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kayode Egbetokun for his dedication, highlighting that the relative peace experienced by Nigerians is a result of public cooperation. He called for the police to foster collaboration rather than resorting to intimidation.

He pointed out that with the case already in the judicial system, there is no justification for victimizing and intimidating innocent individuals prior to a court ruling.

Emmanuel urged the police to take a more collaborative stance instead of escalating tensions. He specifically demanded the immediate release of all young individuals detained at the Peace Corps office, criticizing the practice of weekend arrests and the extended detention until Monday.
