From Nahum Sule, Jalingo

The Taraba Renaissance Group has dismissed claim from one Abdulmumin Imam questioning the continued stay of Dr. Alex Maiangwa as Chief Medical Director (CMD) of the Taraba State Specialist Hospital, Jalingo, describing recent allegations as misleading and unfair.

In a statement issued on Wednesday and signed by its Chairman, Emmanuel Ali, the group clarified that Dr. Maiangwa is not occupying the office on his personal authority, contrary to claims circulating in the public space. According to the group, his continued presence in office is based on the explicit instruction of the Executive Governor of Taraba State, Dr. Agbu Kefas.

The statement further noted that the arrangement is not secretive, stressing that the Board of the Taraba State Specialist Hospital is fully aware of the directive and the reasons behind it. The group explained that such instructions are part of established administrative processes aimed at ensuring continuity, stability, and uninterrupted healthcare delivery pending the completion of formal transition procedures.

The Taraba Renaissance Group cautioned against what it described as deliberate attempts to drag the name of Dr. Maiangwa through the mud, emphasizing that public institutions, especially critical ones like specialist hospitals, operate within defined rules and are also subject to lawful prerogative directives of the governor.

“Administrative transitions in government are guided by due process and timing, not public pressure or sensational commentary,” the statement said, adding that portraying the situation as illegality or undue influence amounts to misinformation.

The group reaffirmed its confidence in Governor Agbu Kefas’s leadership and commitment to due process, accountability, and institutional reforms, while urging stakeholders to engage responsibly and avoid inflammatory narratives that could undermine public trust.

It concluded by calling for patience and restraint, noting that appropriate decisions would be taken by the government at the right time in the overall interest of Taraba State.
