Tomorrow marks the firs anniversary of the passing of the esteemed Emir of Kaiama, Kiyaru Haliru Tsoho, a revered figure known for his commitment to independence, respect, and the well-being of his people.
Prominent sons and daughters of Kaiama, especially the descendants of Emir Kiyaru Haliru Tsoho, will gather at the historic Dizingo Old Emir Haliru Palace in Kaiama, within the Kwara North Senatorial District, to pay homage and celebrate his legacy.
In a statement released by Salihu Dantata Mahmud, former Interior Minister’s Personal Assistant on Media and the guest lecturer for this occasion, he emphasized the significance of this gathering.
Distinguished dignitaries, including former Benue State Governor Gabriel Suswan and his wife, retired Assistant Comptroller General of Immigration Abbas Ahmed (Makaman Kaiama), and Prince Haliru Dantsoho Mahmud (Dan Iyan Kaiama), former Special Assistant on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs to the Kwara State Governor, are expected to grace the event.
Hajia Amina Ahmed Musa, Kwara State Commissioner for Higher Education, and Honorable Audu Bata, Kwara State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, will also be in attendance. The Emir of Kaiama, HRH Alhaji Muazu Shehu Bagidi Kiyaru I, along with other distinguished Nigerians, will join in paying tribute to the late Emir’s remarkable life.
Prince Haliru Dantsoho Mahmud, a proud son of Kaiama and the Dan Iya of Kaiama, expressed his admiration for this initiative, highlighting Emir Kiyaru Haliru Tsoho’s outstanding contributions during his reign.
He noted that the late Emir fearlessly defended his kingdom’s interests, even challenging colonial powers when necessary – a rarity in today’s world.
Emir Kiyaru Haliru Tsoho was known for his unwavering commitment to the welfare and protection of his people’s rights, interests, and well-being.
Prince Haliru Dantsoho Mahmud concluded by emphasizing the importance of this memorial lecture, which he believes will play a pivotal role in the progress and development of the community.
