In a recent announcement, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt.-Gen. Olufemi Oluyede, has sanctioned the strategic redeployment and posting of several high-ranking officers within the Nigerian Army.

Maj.-Gen. Onyema Nwachukwu, the Director of Army Public Relations, shared this development in a statement issued on Saturday, emphasizing that the changes aim to bolster operational efficiency and administrative effectiveness.

The redeployment affects Corps Commanders, Principal Officers, General Officers Commanding (GOCs), Brigade Commanders, and other key leaders, reflecting the army’s commitment to maintaining a dynamic leadership structure capable of addressing evolving security challenges.

Notable appointments include:

– **Maj.-Gen. Lawrence Fejokwu**: From National Defence College to Chief of Administration (Army).
– **Maj.-Gen. GU Chibuisi**: From Nigerian Army Resource Centre to Chief of Civil Military Affairs.
– **Maj.-Gen. AS Ndalolo**: Appointed Chief of Training (Army).
– **Maj.-Gen. Olusegun Abai**: Now Chief of Transformation and Innovation.
– **Maj.-Gen. JH Abdussalam**: Chief of Special Services and Programmes.

Additional postings include:

– **Maj.-Gen. EI Okoro**: Military Secretary (Army).
– **Maj.-Gen. OT Olatoye**: GOC 82 Division/Joint Task Force (JTF) South East Operation UDO KA.
– **Maj.-Gen. EF Oyinlola**: GOC 3 Division/Commander Operation SAFE HAVEN (OPSH).

The army spokesman confirmed the acting appointments of several officers, including Maj.-Gen. AGL Haruna as GOC 7 Division and Maj.-Gen. IA Ajose as GOC 8 Division.

Other significant redeployments involve:

– **Maj.-Gen. GO Adeshina**: Director General at Nigerian Army Heritage and Future Centre.
– **Maj.-Gen. GM Mutkut**: Force Commander at Multi National Joint Task Force Njamena.
– **Maj.-Gen. Obinna Ajunwa**: Commander at Nigerian Army Armour Corps.

Maj.-Gen. Henry Wesley and Maj.-Gen. TT Numbere have also received new commands, along with several others taking leadership roles in various Army divisions and training centers.

Maj.-Gen. Nwachukwu urged all newly appointed officers to approach their roles with renewed vigor and dedication, focusing on the ongoing fight against terrorism and ensuring troop welfare remains a priority.
