Prof Michael Ayeni, FCCrFA, FCCFI, the Chairman, Professional Training and Standards Committee of the Chartered Institute of Forensics and Certified Fraud Investigators of Nigeria ( CIFCFIN) who presented the position paper of the Institute, noted that while the Institute is not particularly against the amendments, the Institute however objects to the sections that impede on CIFCFIN Act and should all be expunged. These are sections 15, 22 & 28 of the ICAN proposed amendments bill.

Prof Michael Ayeni, equally reiterated that ICAN should not stiffed activities of other professional bodies and, that if care is not taken, by 2030 we will have many professional bodies calling for Charter from the National Assembly.

Dr. Isa Salifu, FCCrFA, FCCFI, the Registrar/CEO of the Institute while fielding questions from newsmen, who sought to know his view, reiterated the Institute’s position that every amendment should be treated with caution to avoid duplicity of laws by NASS, unhealthy competition, confusion and clear whittling down of professionalism from jack of all trade as was being proposed by ICAN.

Interestingly, some concerned ICAN members who made presentation, objected to the bill, noting that the proposed bill was omnibus in nature.
