Raheem Sterling, Joao Felix, Axel Disasi, and Ben Chilwell have been omitted from Chelsea’s 28-man squad for the FIFA Club World Cup, which begins on 15 June in the United States.

Despite costing the club a combined £179m, all four players spent last season out on loan. Sterling, signed for £50m in 2022, played just 13 games for Arsenal, scoring once.

Felix, who joined permanently for £45m, netted seven goals in 20 appearances before moving to AC Milan. Disasi, bought for £38.5m from Monaco in 2023, made 17 appearances before joining Aston Villa.

Chilwell, signed for £45m in 2020, featured once for Chelsea last season before joining Crystal Palace, where he was an unused substitute in their FA Cup final win.
