A section of the First Bank building situated on Library Avenue in Umuahia, the capital of Abia State, has collapsed.

The incident occurred on Saturday afternoon, instilling panic across the bustling commercial district, which is home to numerous financial institutions, offices, and shops.

An eyewitness described the collapse as unexpected, highlighting that portions of the building gave way during off-peak hours, prompting nearby traders and pedestrians to flee the vicinity.

The bank officials have yet to release an official statement regarding the incident.
