ABUJA President Bola Tinubu has honoured Nigeria’s Super Falcons with national awards and lavish gifts following their impressive performance at the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup. In a grand gesture of recognition, the President conferred the prestigious Order of the Niger (OON) on all players and technical crew members.

Beyond the ceremonial honours, each player will receive substantial material rewards – a three-bedroom apartment at the Renewed Hope Estate and $100,000 in cash, while members of the technical team will each get $50,000.

This generous package serves as both reward and motivation, underscoring the administration’s commitment to celebrating sporting excellence and investing in the nation’s athletic talent.

These rewards set a new benchmark for how Nigeria honours its sporting heroes, potentially raising expectations for how future athletic achievements might be recognised at the highest levels of government.
