In a tragic incident along the Gwoza-Limankara Road in Borno State, Boko Haram/ISWAP militants have abducted Rev. Fr. Daniel Afina, a Catholic priest, along with nine others, following the fatal shooting of one individual.

According to a source who wished to remain anonymous, Rev. Afina, who coordinates a Christian non-governmental organisation, was travelling back from Mubi with two staff members when their vehicle was ambushed by the terrorists. While one staff member was killed, the remaining two managed to escape and returned to Maiduguri to report the incident.

The source further revealed that the abductors contacted the family of the priest via mobile phone, allowing him to communicate his abduction, although no ransom demands were made at that time.

A senior representative from the Christian Association of Nigeria in Borno State has confirmed the events, urging government and security forces to take swift action for the rescue of the priest and the others.
