Jude Bellingham struck twice, including a dramatic 93rd-minute winner, as England battled past Norway 2-1 after extra time to reach the 2026 FIFA World Cup semi-finals in Miami.

The Three Lions fell behind in the 36th minute when Andreas Schjelderup’s inswinging cross evaded Jordan Pickford and found the net. But Bellingham restored parity deep into first-half stoppage time, slotting home after a sustained attacking move.

Norway had a second-half effort ruled out by VAR after Erling Haaland’s foul in the build-up, and Pickford later denied the Manchester City striker with a vital save as England gradually seized control in sweltering conditions.

With the scores level at 90 minutes, the tie entered extra time. England struck decisively when goalkeeper Ørjan Nyland fumbled, allowing Bellingham to pounce from close range for his sixth goal of the tournament.

Norway pressed relentlessly, but John Stones anchored a resilient England defence, while Pickford made further crucial interventions. Manager Thomas Tuchel introduced fresh legs and adopted a defensive shape to preserve the narrow lead.

England will now face either Argentina or Switzerland in the last four, having previously overcome DR Congo and hosts Mexico in earlier knockout rounds.

Tuchel acknowledged his side fell short of their best but praised their fighting spirit. “We were too sloppy and made too many technical mistakes, but the mentality was outstanding,” he said, hailing Bellingham as a player who consistently delivers on the biggest stage.

Norway manager StÃ¥le Solbakken rued fine margins. “We competed well, but small moments and costly mistakes decided the match,” he reflected.
