Nigerian singer and actor Banky W has offered a candid insight into his marriage with actress Adesua Etomi-Wellington, challenging conventional domestic expectations and sharing deeply personal moments from their journey to parenthood.

In an interview on the Teju Babyface Show published on Thursday, the music star disclosed that contrary to societal assumptions, he is the one who typically handles cooking in their household.

“There are some men who insist their wives must cook, but my wife does not really cook, even though she can cook very well. It’s just not her thing,” he said.

Banky W explained that their arrangement is built on compatibility rather than convention. While he enjoys cooking, his wife enjoys eating—a dynamic that works seamlessly for them.

“Some people come to our house and see me cooking and feel uncomfortable, but it works for us,” he added, urging couples to define their own standards rather than yield to societal pressure. He stressed that marriages should not be governed by external expectations.

“What works for you will be different from somebody else. Don’t live your life by somebody else’s rules,” he said.

The singer also used the platform to commend his wife’s resilience during their struggle to conceive, revealing the emotional and physical toll of multiple failed IVF attempts. Reflecting on the period before the birth of their son, he recounted how Adesua endured repeated IVF cycles, showing remarkable strength despite setbacks.

“I’ve seen her go through things that would break people. She kept getting back up, going through cycle after cycle, even injecting herself with medications,” he said.

Banky W noted that witnessing such resilience reshaped his perspective on household responsibilities, questioning why cooking should ever be considered burdensome by comparison.

The couple welcomed their son, Hezekiah, after their prolonged fertility journey—a milestone the singer described as a testament to perseverance and faith.
