The incident occurred in the early hours of Thursday, April 24, 2025 Easter Thursday at approximately 12:15 a.m. The priest was whisked from his residence at St. Gerald Quasi Parish, Kurmin Risga.

The Chancellor of the Catholic Diocese of Kafanchan, Rev. Fr. Dr. Jacob Shanet, confirmed the abduction on Thursday in a press statement, describing it as a deeply saddening development. He called for prayers for the safe return of the cleric.

“We solicit your prayers for his quick and safe release,” Shanet said.

“We invite the general public to remain calm and avoid taking the law into their own hands, stressing every legitimate and available means will be deployed to ensure that Rev. Fr. Ibrahim Amos returns to us unharmed and in good health.”

Elanzanews reports that the Diocese also invoked the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary and all angels for the priest’s safe return.

Efforts to reach the Kaduna State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Mansir Hassan, were unsuccessful as he did not respond to calls as of the time of filing this report.
