The World Institute for Peace has issued a stern call for the arrest of Sheikh Ahmad Gumi, a prominent cleric in Nigeria.

Renowned for its advocacy for global peace and support for military efforts, the organisation voiced concerns over Sheikh Gumi’s recent rhetoric against security forces, linking it to potential threats to national security.

Expressing grave concerns, Chief Lamina Kamiludeen Omotoyosi, Chairman of the World Institute for Peace, urged Nigerian authorities to promptly question Sheikh Gumi regarding his alleged involvement in perpetuating insecurity.

Emphasising the need for accountability, the organisation underscored the urgency in addressing Sheikh Gumi’s repeated defence of bandits and terrorists, suggesting possible links to criminal activities.

The statement highlighted Sheikh Gumi’s continuous criticism of security operations, portraying him as a potential sponsor of insecurity in Nigeria.

Drawing attention to the cleric’s inflammatory remarks, the World Institute for Peace asserted that such actions undermine security efforts and embolden criminal elements, posing a significant threat to national stability.

Amid escalating concerns, the organisation called upon Nigerian security agents to take decisive action, urging the immediate arrest and interrogation of Sheikh Gumi.

Stressing the importance of holding individuals accountable for their words and actions, the World Institute for Peace underscored the imperative of investigating any potential connections between Sheikh Gumi and perpetrators of violence in Nigeria.
