In a momentous event held in Abuja, three pivotal books authored by Dr. Jumai Ahmadu were launched, highlighting the vital role of documentation in the nation’s development. The titles—*Evolution and Development of a Federal Capital Territory* (Second Edition), *When the Spirit Whispers*, and *Steward of the Nation: The Role of Civil Servants in National Development*—collectively serve as invaluable resources for understanding Nigeria’s progress and the significance of civil service.
Dr. Mariya Mahmoud, Minister of State for the Federal Capital Territory, graced the launch, commending the intellectual depth and timely relevance of the publications. She remarked that these works encapsulate Nigeria’s historical journey, institutional advancements, and the values that underpin public service and individual aspirations.
“In a world often clouded by uncertainty, these books provide moral clarity, purpose, and conviction in leadership and everyday life,” Dr. Mahmoud stated. She emphasised the indispensable role of civil servants in national development, underscoring professionalism, accountability, and service as foundational pillars of effective governance.
The Minister praised Dr. Ahmadu’s commitment to knowledge and nation-building, urging readers to engage with the books in alignment with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
Dr. Jumai Ahmadu, who serves as the Acting Director of the FCT Reform Coordination and Service Improvement Department, expressed her fulfilment at witnessing her vision come to fruition. “The release of the second edition of The Evolution and Development of a Federal Capital Territory coincides with the golden jubilee of the FCT’s establishment, making it a significant milestone,” she explained. “This book offers first-hand accounts of how Abuja has evolved, featuring voices from engineers, planners, educators, politicians, and traditional leaders.”
Former Minister of State for the FCT, Dr. Ramatu Tijjani Aliyu, characterised the launch as a timely intervention. “Preserving history is crucial for any nation seeking to strengthen its governance frameworks,” she asserted. Dr. Aliyu noted that Dr. Ahmadu’s book delves into the FCT’s dual identity as both an administrative hub and a symbol of national unity, reinforcing Abuja’s role as Nigeria’s capital and a beacon of togetherness.
Keynote speaker Osasu Igbinedion-Ogwuche framed the occasion as more than a mere book launch; it represented an opportunity for reflection and national recalibration. “These works are the architecture of place, spirit, and service,” she highlighted, asserting that true national transformation emerges from sustained discipline rather than fleeting applause.
During the unveiling, Senior Advocate of Nigeria Dr. Ogwu James Onoja remarked, “A generation’s greatest asset lies in its written legacy. These books will unite us in knowledge and fortify our national cohesion.”
Book reviewers, including Professor Sale Dauda, Professor Armstrong Idachaba, and the young Rukqayya Abdulrahman, lauded Dr. Ahmadu for enriching Nigeria’s intellectual landscape and broadening the national discourse.
The launch not only celebrates Dr. Ahmadu’s literary contributions but also serves as a clarion call for Nigerians to recognise the significance of documentation in the country’s ongoing narrative. As the nation continues to evolve, these books stand as essential references that illuminate the past and inspire future generations.
