Arsenal narrowly edged out Fulham, winning 1-0 at Craven Cottage to move atop the English Premier League table.
Building on their last win against West Ham at the Emirates, the Gunners dominated the game from the blast of the whistle but failed to convert chances as Fulham defended throughout the first half.
Both teams went into the break without scoring. But Leandro Trossard broke the deadlock for Arsenal in the second half.
Trossard’s goal in the 58th minute won Arsenal all three points, helping the Gunners claim the top spot on the EPL log.
Speaking after the game, Arsenal manager Mike Arteta said, “Really tough place to come. We did a lot to win the game. We try our best to win as many football matches as we can; there is no secret to it.”
Arsenal now have 19 points from eight games. Manchester City are second with 16 points in eight games, while Liverpool have 15 points from seven games.
A victory for Liverpool against Manchester United this weekend could see them claim second position on the log.
