Following the purported suspension of the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, some members of the party have called on the Director General (DG) of the Department of State Service (DSS) Mr. Yusuf Magaji Bichi and the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kayode Egbetokun to arrest the perpetrators.
According to the concerned APC members, some of the people who carried out the suspension were impostors with some of them wearing red caps, signifying their loyalty is with the Kwankwasiyya movement.
Speaking at a press conference in Abuja, the concern APC members through their convener, Comrade Okpokwu Ogenyi, said they received the news of the suspension of the APC National Chairman, Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje by some people they described as members of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) who disguised themselves as members of their great Party from the Ganduje Ward of Kano State as a rude shock.
“The impostors even went far in using the name of our Party’s legal adviser in Ganduje ward to announce the purported suspension of our workaholic National Chairman without the prior concept of the said legal adviser even though a legal adviser lack the powers to suspend officers of the party hence such powers is vested on the ward chairman.
“It is obvious that the Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso led faction of the NNPP are ready to return to the APC but do not want to join our party with Ganduje as the National Chairman. The Kwankwasiyya Movement had even wished Ganduje death before now and could do anything to ensure his removal as the National Chairman of our great Party,” he said.
Ogenyi alleged that former Governor of Kano State, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso and Governor Kabir Abba Yusuf alongside Buba Galadima went into alliance with some North Central APC elders to push for the removal of Dr Ganduje but the North Central APC elders led by a former Senate President, Sen. Ameh Ebute boldly passed a vote of confidence on Ganduje and his working committee members based on his credible performance as the National Chairman of our Party.
“Mr Kwankwaso and his co-travellers have now devised means of causing more di-safection by trying to get the ward exco of Ganduje Ward of Kano State to suspend the National Chairman but couldn’t get any, so, they resulted to impersonating some of the excos in order to mislead the general public.
“The 27 member excos are intact and had since addressed the Press and disassociated themselves from the purported suspension which is now dead at arrival,” Ogenyi said adding that if nothing is left undone by the security agencies, democracy is in clear danger.
“Impersonation is a criminal offense punishable by law. We call on the Inspector General of Police and the Director General of State Security Service to immediately arrest the impostors and prosecute them to serve as a deterrent to others willing to orchestrate such a devilish act.
“If these impostors are not arrested and prosecuted immediately, in a short while, some members of the PDP or Labour Party may constitute themselves and suspend Mr. President from the APC,” he said.
