Troops from Operation Hadin Kai have successfully rescued 12 teenage girls who were abducted by Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists in the Mussa District of the Askira/Uba Local Government Area of Borno.

A reliable military source informed journalists on Sunday that the victims, aged between 15 and 20, were taken on 23 November while they were harvesting crops on their family farmland.

The source stated that the girls were freed on Saturday following a swift, intelligence-led operation in the southern Borno region.

The rescued girls, named Fatima Shaibu, Fatima Umaru, Hauwa Abubakar, Saliha Muhammed, Sadiya Umaru, Amira Babel, Zara Adamu, Nana Shaibu, Zainab Musa, Zainab Muhammed, Jamila Saidu, and Hauwa Hamidu, have been taken to a military facility for medical care, psychological support, and debriefing.

According to the source, their recovery has brought much relief to the community, which had been on edge since the abduction.

“The military high command has commended the troops for their bravery and acknowledged the vital role of local informants whose timely intelligence facilitated the operation.

“Troops are continuing aggressive operations to track down ISWAP remnants and prevent further attacks on civilian communities.

“We encourage residents to keep supporting military efforts by providing reliable and timely information,” he added.
