He said the reinforcement from 21 Special Armoured Brigade engaged the terrorists with superior firepower, forcing them to withdraw and enabling troops to re-occupy the base.

“In a separate incident, troops of 192 Battalion and 26 Task Force Brigade responded to a distress call from farmers in Warabe and Sava-Dure communities of Gwoza local government Area, where terrorists attacked farmers.

“Across other sectors in the North-east theatre, troops continued offensive operations under Operation Desert Sanity IV without major incidents,” he said.

In the North-west, the source said the troops of 4 Demo Battalion and 11 Field Engineer Regiment operating under Operation FANSAN Yamma, uncovered a newly established illegal mining site at Fatika junction along the Dogon Dawa–Old Kuyello road in Giwa local government area of Kaduna state.

He said the troops later engaged three fleeing terrorists in Gobarawa and Nachibi, recovering two abandoned motorcycles.

In Plateau state, he said the troops under Operation Enduring Peace (OPEP) responded to an isolated killing in Riyom local government area and rescued a driver abducted by armed robbers along the Bokkos–Barkin Ladi road.

According to him, search operations for the assailants are on-going.
