Arewa Youth Concern Citizens (AYCC) ,has thrown its weight behind Bello Mohammed Matawalle, Nigeria’s Minister of State for Defence, following his strong condemnation of divisive comments targeting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Matawalle had criticised former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, for remarks he deemed reckless, particularly concerning Tinubu’s chances of securing a second term in the 2027 elections.

In a statement, the AYCC Chairman of Dr. Hamza talba praised the minister’s stance, stressing the need for unity and responsible political discourse.

The group warned that comments from high-profile figures like Amaechi could stoke unnecessary tension and threaten national stability.

The youth organisation commended Matawalle for prioritising national peace over political differences and urged other leaders to follow his example.

It called on politicians to avoid inflammatory rhetoric and instead engage in constructive dialogue to address their concerns.

The forum reiterated its commitment to supporting leaders who promote peaceful coexistence and democratic values, urging all political actors to exercise restraint in their public statements.
