Yahaya Bello, former governor of Kogi, says the electronic membership registration of the All Progressives Congress (APC) will connect members directly to empowerment programmes under the Renewed Hope agenda.
The Kogi chapter of the APC commenced the electronic registration exercise across the state on Monday in compliance with directives from the party’s national headquarters.
Usman Ododo, governor of Kogi state, flagged off the exercise with the electronic registration of party members.
Bello was electronically registered on Friday at Agasa ward in Okene LGA, at an event attended by party loyalists and Abdullahi Bello, chairman of the APC in Kogi.
Speaking after his registration, Bello described the exercise as timely and commendable, stating that it would strengthen internal cohesion and enhance engagement between the party and its members.
“Let me commend everyone for turning out for this exercise today, and I want to assure you that our leader and president, Bola Tinubu, has good plans for the people of this great nation and he will continue to do more for the people,” he said.
“The requirement of the National Identification Number in the e-registration process shows that members are directly linked to the party leadership and can be reached without intermediaries for empowerment and other benefits, and I urge you to encourage members of your families to participate in this exercise.”
He urged party members to take future elections seriously, saying the APC remains the dominant political party in the state.
Bello said development often comes with challenges and urged Nigerians to remain patient and continue supporting the president’s reform agenda, which he described as focused on long-term national progress.
He thanked party stakeholders in the state for their continued support, commending the state executive, local government chairmen, grassroots leaders and party supporters.
Earlier, Abdullahi Bello said the e-registration exercise would continue across the 21 local government areas of the state following the registration of the governor and former governor.
He appealed to party members to cooperate and participate promptly to ensure the exercise is completed within the timeframe set by the party’s national leadership.
On Thursday, Aliyu Wamakko, former governor of Sokoto, said the reform agenda of the Tinubu administration is well-intentioned and critical to Nigeria’s long-term stability and development.
Wamakko, senator representing Sokoto north, spoke during the flag-off of the APC electronic membership registration exercise in the state.
