Dr Saliu Bakare Girei has scaled another major political hurdle after the ruling All Progressives Congress cleared him to contest the Adamawa State governorship race ahead of the 2027 election.
His Media and Publicity Adviser, Macaulay Hunohasi, disclosed this in an exclusive interview on Saturday, saying the aspirant had successfully appeared before the party’s screening committee.
Hunohasi said the campaign structure had already been fully mobilised ahead of the APC governorship primary fixed for May 23, 2026.
“With this development, every hurdle standing on his path has been removed. The coast is now fully clear,” he said.
The aide added that Girei had continued to enjoy massive support from party faithful and residents across the state, especially in the six local government areas of Adamawa North Senatorial Zone.
According to him, the governorship hopeful would soon embark on wider consultations and strategic visits across the Central and Southern Senatorial Zones.
“There is no retreat. There is no surrender,” Hunohasi declared.
He described Girei as one of the leading aspirants in the race, noting that his grassroots support and political momentum were growing daily across the state.
“Dr Saliu Bakare Girei remains focused, determined and ready to serve Adamawa people. The support from party faithful and coordinators across the state has been massive and encouraging,” he added.
He further stated that the movement backing the aspirant was gaining strength by the day as consultations intensified ahead of the primary.
