Another devastating boat mishap has occured once again in Sokoto claiming 6 lives with 3 still missing and 19 rescued.
 The incident which happend at about 5: 30 in the morning in Garin-Faji Village, Sabon-Birni local government area left the villagers soaked in grieve.
Reacting to the ugly development, the Sokoto State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) led a joint assessment mission with officials from the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) Sokoto Operations Office, the National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA), and the Red Cross to the affected community to confirm casualties.
During the visit, the delegation held a fact-finding meeting with community leaders and families of the victims.
The assessment team led by the Head of NEMA Sokoto Operations Office Alhaji Aliyu Shehu Kafin-Dangi, had Hon. Aminu Liman Bodinga, Special Adviser to Sokoto SEMA represented by Mustapha Umar, Director of Relief and Rehabilitation and Engr. Muhammad Bello Bala of NIWA.
The group assured that a comprehensive report on the incident will be jointly released soon by NEMA Sokoto, Sokoto SEMA, and NIWA.
However,  search and rescue operations are ongoing to locate the three missing persons according to officials of the agency.
