Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State is currently facing serious accusations of having strong connections with bandits, according to the Citizens United Against Terrorism (CUAT).

During a press conference held in Abuja on Tuesday, the group demanded that Governor Lawal clarify the source of a video that attempted to link his predecessor and Minister of State Defence, Bello Matawalle, to banditry.

Comr. Obinna Francis, speaking on behalf of the Citizens United Against Terrorism, expressed concern over the increasing number of bandit attacks in the state. The group alleges that the bandits are receiving protection, benefits, and favors from the governor.

Reports have emerged suggesting that the bandits now possess more advanced weaponry than ever before, surpassing the arsenal confiscated from previous bandit groups during the previous administration.

The group also pointed out a video released by a notorious bandit leader, which implicates the Minister of State Defence. They believe that this video is the work of Governor Lawal.

The circumstances under which the governor’s spokesperson was the first to view the video have raised suspicions about possible connections between political figures and criminal entities.

The Citizens United Against Terrorism expressed their concern over Governor Lawal’s inability to effectively address the banditry situation in Zamfara, despite his sworn duty to protect the people.

They emphasized the need to scrutinize the current governor’s actions rather than solely focusing on the previous administration.

Governor Lawal has been accused of neglecting his responsibilities and engaging in celebratory activities in Enugu State while the security situation in Zamfara deteriorates.

The group firmly believes that Governor Lawal is unfit to lead Zamfara and demands a thorough investigation into his alleged connections with the bandits responsible for the chaos.

As a result, they are calling on Governor Lawal to provide a comprehensive explanation to the people of Zamfara regarding his relationship with the bandits and the concrete measures he is taking to address the escalating crisis.
