Al-Hikmah University, Nigeria’s first Islamic faith-based university, has held its 15th convocation ceremony in Ilorin, Kwara State, marking another milestone in its academic journey.

The five-day event came weeks after the institution was listed in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings, a feat widely described as a testament to its growing academic reputation.

Speaking at the ceremony, the anchor of Intelligentsia Nigeria (IESDI), Dr Princess Omobolanle Ogundiran, commended the Founder and Chairman of the university, Abdulraheem Oladimeji, OFR, for what she described as his uncommon sacrifices and enduring commitment to quality education.

Ogundiran said Oladimeji’s vision, mentorship and investments in human capital development had positively impacted many individuals across Nigeria and beyond, noting that his contributions to education were “second to none”.

She also praised the convocation lecture delivered by the Deputy Senate President, Senator Barau Jibrin, titled Managing Executive–Legislative Relations, describing it as timely, educative and relevant to Nigeria’s democratic development and national security concerns.

Ogundiran further acknowledged the roles played by former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Prof Ibrahim Gambari; the Vice-Chancellor, Prof Lateef Folorunsho Oladimeji; the Pro-Chancellor, Alhaja Sekinat O. Yusuf, and other dignitaries from Kwara State in ensuring the success of the ceremony.

Al-Hikmah University currently ranks second in Kwara State, third in North Central Nigeria and 15th nationally in the 2025 Times Higher Education Impact Rankings, and has also been listed in the 2026 Times Higher Education World University Rankings.
