Senate President Godswill Akpabio has called on the Muslim Ummah to offer special prayers for national cohesion and progress as Nigerians mark Eid-el-Maulud.
In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Eseme Eyiboh, in Abuja on Monday, Akpabio described the Holy Prophet’s life and teachings as an enduring model of compassion, tolerance, humility, and selfless service to humanity.
“As we commemorate this sacred day, I urge our Muslim brothers and sisters to reflect on the virtues of the Prophet and to offer special prayers for peace, unity, and progress in our dear country,” he said.
The Senate President emphasised that Nigeria’s strength lies in its diversity, urging citizens to embrace love, forgiveness, and mutual respect regardless of faith or ethnic background.
“In these trying times, our nation needs the prayers of all religious leaders and faithful. Let us use this period to pray for our leaders, security, economic prosperity, and the unity that binds us together as one people under God,” Akpabio added.
He reaffirmed the 10th Senate’s commitment, under his leadership, to advancing legislation and policies that protect religious freedom, foster national cohesion, and improve the welfare of all Nigerians.
Akpabio extended his felicitations to President Bola Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima, wishing the entire Muslim community a peaceful and joyous Eid-el-Maulud celebration.
