Prince Ero Ibhafidon, founder of Waterlight Africa Investments Ltd, has been honoured with the Global Sustainability Leadership Award 2026 – and is using the platform to call for a surge in sustainable investment across Africa.
The award was presented at the 5th Global Sustainability Summit & Awards, held in the historic House of Lords at the Palace of Westminster, London. The accolade recognises Ibhafidon’s contributions to sustainable development, clean energy, environmental stewardship, humanitarian service and inclusive economic growth across the African continent.
The ceremony also marked the international launch of Waterlight Africa Investments Ltd, a purpose-driven investment and project development firm established to channel global capital into high-impact opportunities throughout Africa.
A ‘beginning, not a destination’
Speaking after the ceremony, Dr Ibhafidon described the recognition as a catalyst for a larger mission: positioning Africa as a premier destination for responsible investment.
“This recognition is not the destination – it is the beginning of a wider mission,” he said. “Africa possesses the world’s youngest workforce, abundant natural resources, extraordinary entrepreneurial talent and one of the fastest-growing consumer markets. He issued a direct call to governments, development finance institutions, private investors, multinational corporations and development partners, urging them to increase strategic investments across the continent, which he described as “the world’s next major frontier for sustainable economic growth.”
