In the ongoing African Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Cote d’Ivoire, Nigeria’s Super Eagles are set to face off against the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon in a thrilling round of 16 encounter.

Securing the second spot in Group A, the Eagles won two games and drew one, while Cameroon clinched the second position in Group C with a victory, a draw, and a loss.

The highly anticipated match is scheduled for Saturday at 9:00 pm, promising intense football action.

The previous face-off between Nigeria and Cameroon took place in June 2021 during an international friendly, resulting in a lone goal victory for Cameroon and a goalless draw in the second match.

In the competitive arena, Nigeria emerged triumphant in the 2019 AFCON quarter-final clash, winning 3-2 with goals from Odion Ighalo and Alex Iwobi.

Dating back to 1968, the football giants have crossed paths 16 times, with Nigeria clinching victory in seven encounters and Cameroon emerging victorious in five. Four matches ended in draws.

Notable encounters include the 2017 World Cup qualifiers, where the Eagles secured a 1-1 draw in Yaoundé and dominated Cameroon with a 4-0 victory on home turf.

This AFCON round of 16 promises to be another chapter in the historic rivalry between these football powerhouses. Stay tuned for a clash of titans on the African football stage.
